Locals are rediscovering outdoor space this summer due to the pandemic. From parks to patios, Torontonians are taking in summer while also practicing social distancing. Now comes news that one of the city’s most iconic outdoor spaces is re imagining itself for summer. Summer at Ontario Place was announced this week by Minister MacLeod and features festivals, drive-in movies, a drive-in movie festival, a jazz festival and live entertainment. When you need to get away from the city without actually going anywhere, explore 155 acres of waterfront with Summer at Ontario Place.

WHAT IT'S LIKE TO FLY WITH AIR CANADA NOW

One of the biggest hurdles when it comes to travel during the pandemic is customer confidence. Travellers want to know that getting to and from their destination will be safe with proper physical distancing and health guidelines being taken. That’s why Destination Toronto collaborated with Air Canada to show the public what travel looks like in 2020.

Join Toronto ambassador Andrew Gunadie, aka gunnarolla, as he takes you from Toronto to Montréal to show you what it's like to fly with Air Canada in the age of a pandemic.  Added security measures, hand washing and mandatory masks are just some of the new measures to make air travel safe in 2020.

SOCIAL SERIES:
A STAYCATION AT SHERATON CENTRE TORONTO AND A GIVEAWAY WITH CHOTTO MATTE

Destination Toronto continues to collaborate with partners throughout the city to showcase how to experience Toronto while also staying safe. In addition to teaming up with Air Canada above, this week, Destination Toronto promoted one of the city’s most iconic hotels, as well as one of our best examples of fusion food the destination is known for:

  • Staycation giveaway – Sheraton Centre Toronto is home to Toronto’s largest indoor-outdoor pool, and one lucky local will win a staycation to beat the heat.
  • To Go Toronto weekly giveaway – This week’s Takeout Day theme was World Day and featured Peruvian-Japanese restaurant Chotto Matte. The restaurant also welcomed ambassadors @thecuriouscreature and @dineandfash to enjoy their 3,000 sq. ft. patio for globally-inspired fusion cuisine and Toronto views.

Next week, we’ll be showcasing Casa Loma’s new Dinner in the Gardens, and a takeover at the Hockey Hall of Fame with “Game Day” themed-food for our virtual dinner series in advance of the NHL coming to Toronto this summer.

Let’s keep promoting Toronto experiences and how locals and nearby visitors can take in the city safely.
